Participants will engage in deep learning of the ELA instructional shifts and CCSS, understanding what makes for high-quality curriculum materials, why EdReports privileges what we do, and how choosing well-aligned materials is a first step toward closing the achievement gap. With district teams, participants will consider the current state of their instructional materials and professional development initiatives, develop recommendations for improvement, and begin to plan for this work for the upcoming school year.
- Teachers will learn how using aligned curriculum will improve student learning and assess how well current materials are meeting their students’ needs to make plans for strengthening this work.
- School leaders will learn about the significant impact quality materials and professional learning can have on dealing with systemic inequity and closing the opportunity gap.
- System leaders will practice strategies for building community buy-in and making collaborative decisions about ELA materials.
